La Roche Posay- Effaclar Duo (+) Review

Hello my beautiful friends! 🙂  I hope you are doing well and you’re having a great week.

This article comes with a little bit of delay, because I am caught up in exams and trying to survive. But other than that, for quite some time I have been testing La Roche Posay’s Effaclar duo (+), which is a gel cream destined for those who have skin imperfections and as you know desperate times ask for desperate measures. At first I was intrigued because I did read many positive reviews on their website and everyone was saying that it helped them in correcting the imperfections. After my skin betrayed me and with this stress and poor sleep still does, I was looking for something which would make my little spots and redness disappear. Effaclar Duo seems to work just perfect. I got mine from a pharmacy so in my mind it made complete sense that it has to work. :))

After the first days of using it, I did notice a small change in my skin, but nothing too dramatic and life changing. I was a little bit disappointed after the first month of using it, since it did not make any blemishes disappear nor prevented them from appearing. But, then my skin slowly started to improve as I continued to use it and I can say that my opinion on it has changed.

It is actually such a good product. It is not too moisturizing, but usually the products dedicated to acne prone skin are not this way. What I also like about this cream is that it can be used as a make-up base and it is not sticky. The scent is really nice and not overwhelming. However, it reduces the redness and marks, but it doesn’t unclog the pores and my blackheads are still visible.

I do like its consistency, but the fact that the results are not visible immediately (at least in my case) was not very helpful and made me to want to give it up. This is a very popular product and very loved, and the price point is acceptable. The ingredients are:

  • Procerad: helps protect against the appearance of red or brown marks.
  • Mannose: stimulates skin regeneration.
  • APF: helps durably restore skin’s balance.
  • Niacinamide: active ingredient for intensive soothing. Decreases redness.
  • Piroctone olamine to combat bacterial proliferation
  • LHA and salicylic acid micro-exfoliates without irritating.
  • Zinc PCA: reduces sebum secretion

And you can read more about their ingredients on their website.

At the same time, I love that is has a mattifying effect and it absorbs really quickly into the skin. I am also using it as a make-up base and it works just great! One thing which I have noticed is that if you have mixed skin, it will tend to over dry your skin, and for this very reason I have to apply a moisturizer at times. Unfortunately, it does not contain SPF, and especially during the summer you will need to apply SPF separately.

Overall, it really improved the aspect of my skin and imperfections, even though it dried it a little bit. I would like to try more from La Roche-Posay, because they have slowly achieved the title for some of the best products regarding skin care. If you struggle with acne or just some spots, give this one a try, because it does its job even if it takes some time. If you tried any products from La Roche Posay, let me know how they worked for you.

See you soon, with a new article! 🙂
