5 things I am looking forward to at 26

Whooah there, did I just turn 26?! It seems surreal for me to even say this age when someone asks me about it. Do I feel different?-in some ways yes, while in others not really. But again, this means that I can also be wiser… or not really, but I can definitely say that I learnt a lot more from my mistakes (especially in the last years).

Last year has been a real teacher from start to finish and I know it has not been easy for any of us, under any circumstances. But as time goes by, we should become more aware of enjoying the moments and not worrying about the future.

Needless to say that I am where I want to be, but it is a work in progress and even now, as I’m writing this article, I am not fully aware that today it is my birthday. Both a blessing and a curse, the happiest and the saddest day, and just an ocean of emotions. Why am I saying that this has to be the saddest day, well because, just like the quote says: Today it is the day when I am the oldest I have been and the youngest I will ever be again.

But every chapter in our lives comes with new challenges and new lessons, so cheers for my second socially distant birthday and some lifestyle changes!

Stop stressing so much

My family and those who know me well enough can confirm that I am basically a nervous system. You may think it is a joke, but in fact, I wish I was kidding. In this new chapter, I just want to choose my battles and stop stressing so much for everything. I guess some day I will be tired enough to achieve it. 🤭

Be more mindful

These times offer us a lot of information and possibilities, but this doesn’t mean that you can and have to take it all in. It’s so easy to worry about future things which might happen, but in reality we must be more present. Mindfulness is difficult to achieve, but becoming aware of your own thoughts is the best thing you can do for yourself. Being mindful can be helpful in many ways and meditation can do wonders (especially when you feel overwhelmed with all the work you have to do for school/office).  🤗

More self-care

It’s not that I did not take care for myself up until now, but I still have a tendency to put myself last, thus self-care and self-love must be practiced more. And this translates to stop making excuses and start learning new things, new best practices, and new habits which are more beneficial as well as saying “No”. There are times where you really need to put yourself first and to establish clear boundaries.

More time with family and friends

In the midst of all this craziness it is easy to forget that our parents are getting older too. Not only this, but at the same time these social distancing rules make it incredibly difficult to meet. Hopefully, it will all work for the best, because I have to catch up on some quality time with my dear ones. 💓

How are you adjusting to the new chapters in your life? I’d absolutely love to know your thoughts so feel free to share them below.
