Today, we’re diving into the world of Rare Beauty, Selena Gomez’s beauty brand, to give you my honest take on their Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara.
As someone who’s always on the lookout for the next holy grail mascara – one that can withstand long travel days and still deliver stunning lashes – I was particularly excited to put this one to the test. Also, not going to lie, this has become one of my holy grails mascaras. Let’s see all the details.
Packaging
The first thing that struck me was the sleek and minimalist packaging. It is also easy to pack it while travelling, and it feels luxurious yet practical with the light beige tube.
It comes both in a mini and full size, which is great if you want to give it a try.
The wand is a unique multi-length bristle brush, which promises to work with all types of eyelashes. Indeed, I can confirm it offered me great volume, and it was very easy to work with. The wand is not too big, so it doesn’t hit the eyelids.
Shades
Rare’s beauty mascara currently comes in just one shade, a truly intense black, which I love! I’m definitely hoping they’ll expand their color range someday, as I’d be so excited to try other shades.
Formula
Now, the formula is where it really shines! As someone with hooded eyes, I’m extremely particular about mascaras and avoiding smudging. While I can be hard to please, Rare Beauty’s formula truly impressed me. It’s surprisingly long-wearing and really lengthens my lashes. Although the brand claims it’s clump-resistant, I did experience some minor clumping if I didn’t allow drying time between coats. A big plus is the castor oil, which seems to keep my lashes healthy. This formula gave my lashes great definition and a good hold. I did find it a bit stubborn to remove at times, though that likely depends on the makeup remover used.
Finally, the mascara is fragrance-free and applies smoothly without feeling dry.
After thoroughly testing it, I can confidently say this mascara deserves a spot in your makeup collection – it won’t disappoint. Being produced in Italy speaks to its quality, and it definitely lives up to expectations. In fact, I’ve been so impressed that it has earned a permanent spot in my makeup rotation, and I’ve already repurchased it twice.If you’re looking for a new mascara, this is your sign to try it.
